BEDROOMS MADE FOR REST
A bedroom works when it is easy to rest in and easy to keep tidy. We settle the bed wall, the light and the storage before the colors.
What we
look at first
01 - The brief
Bedrooms collect the furniture that did not fit anywhere else. The result is often a bed pushed against a radiator, a chest of drawers that cannot open fully and a single overhead light that is far too bright for the last hour of the day.
We find the wall the bed wants to sit against, give each side a surface and a lamp within reach, and plan the storage so clothes go away behind doors rather than over a chair.
- Which wall the bed sits on, and the room either side of it
- Window coverings that darken the room when you need them to
- Bedside surfaces and switches you can reach lying down
- Wardrobe and drawer space measured against what you own
- Noise from the street or from the rest of the house

Ideas we
often start from
02 - IdeasStarting points, not rules. Every one of them gets tested against your room’s own measurements before it goes into a plan.
A headboard wall
Paint, panelling or fabric behind the bed gives the room a focus without filling it up.
Lamps on a dimmer
Warm bulbs at bedside height, on dimmers, make the end of the day slower and easier.
Storage under and above
Drawers under the bed and a shelf over the door hold the things you reach for once a season.
From first
call to final room
03 - How it worksEvery room goes through the same four stages, whether it takes an afternoon or a season. You know what comes next at each one.
- 01
Talk
We hear about the room: what happens in it, what is not working and what you want to keep.
- 02
Measure
A floor plan to scale, photographs and a note of the light at different times of day.
- 03
Design
The layout, the colors and materials, the lighting, and a list of what to buy.
- 04
Finish
Pieces arrive and go into place, then we walk through the finished room with you.
